After a few years covering the news you start to pick up on the look – the fashion – of your fellow journalists.

People who work in TV are easy to spot of course, but newspaper reporters have a distinct style that says, “I don’t care” how I look, in a way that can be spotted a mile off (We make this observation without prejudice).

This was the topic of an article and interview from the New York Times this weekend with one of the stylists for the movie Spotlight, which is about the Boston Globe’s investigation into sexual abuse in the Catholic church. Wendy Chuck describes the look of a newspaper reporter as a non-uniform uniform.

As a piece of multi-media journalism, the Times article makes excellent use of the written word(which you might expect), combined with video that tells a stand alone part of the story.
