Nyssa Kruse, a news intern at the Hartford Courant, is getting national attention for her reaction to the shooting at the Capital Gazette in Annapolis last week.
The student at Indiana University used the event to defend local news reporting and explain the role journalists play in communities across the country. Her social media defense was picked up by National Public Radio.
Kruse is the incoming fall editor in chief of her college paper.
