Jackson Continues Upward

Former WFSB reporter Hallie Jackson has been named the anchor of the Sunday edition of NBC Nightly News.

The network thinks enough of her talent that NBC is willing to allow her to anchor the show from Washington, D.C. where she will continue as the network’s “senior Washington correspondent” and host of Hallie Jackson Now on NBC’s streaming network. Jackson replaces Kate Snow who announced she would be stepping down from the Sunday night show a few months ago.

Jackson’s stock has been rising at NBC News since 2015 when she was part of a team of reporters assigned to cover the Trump/Clinton presidential race. Looking ahead, it is more than mere speculation to suggest this new assignment puts her in the running to be the eventual anchor of NBC Nightly News when Lester Holt, who is 65 and shows no sign of slowing down, decides he has had enough.
