The Laurel has learned Hartford Courant sports writers Jeff Jacobs and Paul Doyle are leaving the paper to join Hearst Connecticut.
The move by the two long-time Courant sports reporters comes just a few months after business columnist Dan Haar made the same move. Doyle has been with the Courant for 28 years. Jacobs 33 years.
Hearst owns Connecticut dailies that form a publishing crescent that begins in Torrington and sweeps through Fairfield County, New Haven and Middletown. It appears if the chain does not have an eye on the Courant itself, it certainly has an eye on the Courant’s top talent.
