Jarvis v. Sharpton

Somewhat predictably, Fox News, a competitor of MSNBC, found last weekend’s Hartford appearance by Al Sharpton news worthy enough to bring to a national audience.

Sharpton drew criticism during a weekend rally to end violence when he asked for donations during a church service to his National Action Network. Hartford Rev. Marcus Mosiah Jarvis challenged Sharpton from the audience and told him it was inappropriate to be asking community members for donations that might be used outside the city. Sharpton quickly countered the money would be used in Hartford to build a memorial to victims of violence.

Fox News has long targeted the relationship between Sharpton and MSNBC as improper. Sharpton often appears as a participant in news events at the same time he hosts a program on MSNBC that covers those issues. In this case, there are plenty of ethical questions to go around.
