A lawsuit filed by the Manchester based Journal Inquirer’s chief financial officer suggests the paper’s owner is exploring the sale of the long struggling daily.
The suit filed by CFO Walter Rudewicz, a JI employee since 1979, seeks deferred salary payments totaling nearly $1 million. The suit accuses the paper’s owner, Neil Ellis, of refusing to stick to a deferred compensation agreement he struck with Rudewicz in 2008.
The suit suggests Rudewicz was informed he would not be paid as Ellis was in negotiations with a potential buyer. Details of the lawsuit and the JI’s denial of the accusations contained therein were reported by the Hartford Business Journal.
