Former long-time New Haven Register capitol bureau chief James Mutrie died last week. He worked for the Register for over thirty years.
He was born in Paisley, Scotland, but grew up in Ansonia, Connecticut and earned degrees from Quinnipiac and Wesleyan.

Because of his integrity, deep knowledge of state government, and exceptional writing skills, he was well known in state political and journalism circles as the Dean of the Capitol Press Corps.
