John Bard McNulty, a former professor at Trinity College in Hartford and author of a book on the first 200 years of the Hartford Courant died Friday afternoon at the age of 99.
McNulty read the paper every day up until his death according to his family.
McNulty had a distinguished academic career which included study at Trinity, Columbia and Yale.
In addition to “Older Than the Nation,” the history of the Courant, McNulty wrote several other books including “Connecticut Observed.”
His son, Henry McNulty, was the Courant’s first op-ed page editor.
