John Berry, editor of the Register Citizen in Torrington and The Middletown Press, is leaving Connecticut to become editor of the Trentonian, a sister newspaper of Digital First Media in New Jersey. John’s work at the Register Citizen was exemplary. While there, he trained many new reporters who went on to do great work at other newspapers and focused on tough local issues. Under his leadership, the Register Citizen brought to light both social media bullying attacks on teenage rape victims and a trend of heroin overdoses in the Torrington area. His work will be missed in Connecticut, but he is sure to do great things in New Jersey.
