Connecticut’s Governor’s Horse Guard (“The Nation’s Oldest Continuously Mounted Cavalry Unit”) held its swearing-in ceremony last week and a CT news anchor was among the new recruits.
The Unit is down in numbers and has been crushed by budget cuts. Members are hoping to get the word out about the troop and have asked NBC CT morning co-anchor Kerri-Lee Mayland to help. She and several others have begun the 16-week, intense training. If you’re interested in learning more and perhaps joining them, go to ctfirsthorse.org.
