One of the Hartford region’s long running advertising agencies has reportedly gone out of business.

Keiler and Company, a Farmington based firm in business for more than 40 years quietly shut down a couple of weeks ago. According to a report in the Hartford Courant, the move was tied to the loss of Lockheed Martin as a major client. Former employees interviewed by the Courant suggested the firm’s demise was the result of a variety of issues, not a single factor:

“The economic challenges of the day that most businesses are facing led to the agency’s downfall…From my vantage point, there was a confluence of events — not one single catastrophic event — that led to Keiler’s closing.”

“I encourage people not to judge Keiler on the unfortunate events of the past several months. Keiler’s legacy lives on through its work and its extraordinarily talented former employees.
