Larrye deBear, the former broadcaster turned gubernatorial press secretary died this weekend at age 92.
deBear was the first host of WFSB’s(then WTIC) Face the State in 1965 and went on to serve as press secretary to Governor Ella Grasso. During his time in the Grasso administration he helped her navigate the Blizzard of 1978 and managed the news coverage related to her battle with cancer, her death in office, and the transition to the administration of Governor Bill O’Neill.
He lived in Rocky Hill where he served on the town council and also worked in the real estate business.
