In a development that could lead to an increase in local news programming across the country, multiple reports say NBC is considering cutting back its prime time offerings to give the 10p.m. hour to local stations.
This could be a trial balloon. The decision is said to be in the discussion stage and no formal proposals have been made. If NBC did reduce its prime time programs it’s not hard to imagine pressure from local stations building on ABC and CBS to do the same.
