Sources tell The Laurel that Liz has returned to the Connecticut television scene. Yes, we mean Liz Grey Godbout, most recently Vice President of News at NBC30 until she decided to stay home for a few years to raise her children. Prior to her tenure at NBC30 (when ratings saw historic highs) she was assistant news director for WABC-TV in New York and News Director at WTNH ( some golden years for the state’s ABC affiliate). Liz is going to (quoting a memo) “serve in an advisory capacity …to fine tune….newscasts” and Fox61 couldn’t have picked a better person. Liz is a newsperson’s news director and she manages to maintain journalistic standards while understanding that news departments are evolving organisms that must keep the audience’s interests in mind. Not only will you encounter many television journalists in the state who maintain that that “Liz was the best boss I ever had,” but we venture that you’ll hear similar gratitude from national talent such as Natalie Morales, whom Liz hired out of obscurity. We could go on and on but our guess is that our commenters will do that for us. Welcome back, Liz.
She is a class act. Always has been. Glad she is back. Incredible news judgement. One of the best!
