In case you missed it, long-time New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof, has quit his job and has announced he is running for governor of Oregon as a Democrat.
It is not unusual for news reporters to quit journalism and find themselves running for political office, but it is unusual for someone as celebrated as Kristof, with one of the most prestigious jobs in journalism, to say there is a higher calling.
