The Local News Initiative at Northwestern’s Medill School is out with its annual report on the state of local news.
While philanthropists have increased their giving to non-profit news operations dramatically, the number of traditional local news organizations is dropping at a steady pace. One headline describing the trend as the loss of “two local newspapers a week.”
