Over the last two weeks The Laurel has received several unconfirmed reports of layoffs at Connecticut television stations. The reports are in line with national reporting that reveals cost cutting efforts by major chains across the country. If and when any names are connected with these reported layoffs we will report them.
As is always the case, even while jobs are cut at various Connecticut news outlets, there is the need to hire at the same time. Last week, Fox 61 announced the hiring of several new reporters, the latest being Steffen Reals who is joining the station as an MSJ. He has worked previously in Memphis and Joplin, Missouri.
Congratulations to Joe Furey who was officially inducted into the Silver Circle last week by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences – Boston/New England Chapter. The award recognizes “significant contributions” to the industry over a period of twenty-five years or longer.
