Robert Mellis, veteran newsman and publisher of several Litchfield County publications died last month at the age of 84. He was best known locally as the publisher of Housatonic Valley Publishing. Mellis was also a world traveler who spent several years living on a sailboat and visited all 50 U.S. states by motorhome.
Follow up now on a story we told you about last month concerning the ownership of the former home of the Hartford Courant. A three day auction for the property was held at the end of last month and the highest bid came in at only $100,000 above the opening minimum of $700,000. It’s unclear whether the bid has been accepted.
Less than a month after WFSB’s Melissa Cole announced she would no longer be doing the weather on-air, former NBC Connecticut weatherman Josh Cingranelli has announced he is back helping out the WFSB weather team “on occasion.” One such occasion was this past weekend.
With regard to former Fox 61 reporter Matt Caron, a copy of a terse internal email from the station’s news director is making the rounds on social media. It simply reads Matt is no longer employed by Tegna and “we wish him well in the future.” Meanwhile, Caron updated his profile banner on “X.”

The rumors are true. David Fisch has joined 97.3 WZBG as the new day middays host. He will be on the air weekdays 10a.m. – 3p.m.
