Former Fox 61 reporter Matt Caron seems to be headed in the direction of communications consulting. At the end of last week he published posts on social media announcing the launch of Caron Communications, and news outlets were informed that Caron would be the media contact for the lawyer representing notorious stepmother Kimberly Sullivan. Caron received some national buzz two weeks ago when he posted a long video on social media explaining the circumstances of his departure from the station.
Another Fox 61 reporter who decided on her own to not renew her contract is leaving Connecticut after attending the University of Connecticut and beginning her journalism career here. Lindsey Kane, who announced she was leaving the station in January, says she is moving back to her home state of New Jersey where she has taken an off-camera job in communications.
Undeterred by a congressional subcommittee hearing called last week to accuse PBS and NPR of liberal bias, the news organizations persist. After a year as co-anchors, Amna Nawaz and Geoff Bennett have been named co-managing editors of PBS NewsHour and all platforms associated with the program.
After 53 years with the network, reporter Rita Braver has announced her retirement. Tuesday is her last day. During her time at the network she held almost every major reporting assignment but in recent years has been seen most often on Sunday Morning.
Senator Chris Murphy continues to gain national attention for his ferocious opposition to the Trump administration. Appearing this week on The New Yorker Radio Hour, Murphy told host David Remnick that we have months, not years to save our democracy from Trump’s vision of an authoritarian government.
