Gannett is increasing its offer to buy Tribune Publishing, the parent of the Hartford Courant.
In an effort to win Tribune shareholder support, Gannett increased its offer from $815 to $864 million. That’s $15 a share as compared with Gannett’s first offer of $12.25 a share.
Reports say officials from both companies met last week, but were unable to come to a deal. The meeting itself may demonstrate Tribune is more willing to sell than company officials are letting on.
