Washington Week, the PBS Friday night news talk show that has launched many print journalists into television news careers, has formed a new partnership with The Atlantic magazine that could inject a new degree of relevance into the program.
Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor in chief of The Atlantic, will begin as moderator of the program next Friday and the show will be re-named Washington Week with The Atlantic.
While the announced changes are superficial so far the opportunity to create a program that adds something to the conversation increases with Goldberg’s access to regular Atlantic writers with high levels of expertise on the subjects they cover.
In recent years, the program has been a predictable Friday night exercise in reviewing what most news hungry viewers already know by week’s end.
