Few Connecticut reporters epitomize a full commitment to the life of a journalist than John Murray of the Waterbury Observer. He and his daughter Chelsea have been toiling away for years covering the city of Waterbury despite the odds against them as a small news operation.
All that work has now paid off in a new way. Murray has been selected, along with a handful of other local journalists from across the country, to be part of Facebook’s Facebook Bulletin project; a $5 million commitment by the tech giant to fund local news gathering.
So far Murray has posted two stories to his Bulletin page: one explaining what’s next and another on a recent public appearance by former Governor John Rowland, a politician Murray has chronicled for years.
