Richard Washington has been named News Director of Fox61. He comes to Hartford from another TEGNA-owned station, WCNC in Charlotte, where he served as assistant news director for the past two years. Washington led the station’s Emmy-award winning tornado coverage in February 2020.
He also served as executive news producer at WCAU-TV Philadelphia and WBAL-TV Baltimore. He was a news producer at WTTG Washington, DC, WAGA-TV Atlanta and WWBT Richmond, Virginia.
Washington succeeds Liz Grey Godbout who is stepping down from the job. Washington is the second news director announced in the Hartford/New Haven market this month. NBC CT recently announced the arrival of Tracy Davis.
