In a world where the Winsted Citizen can’t survive a full year, the rich get richer whether the rest of us like it or not.

CNN finally has a premiere date for the questionable pairing of former WFSB anchor Gayle King and Charles Barkley. The one hour weekly show, titled King Charles, will begin next Wednesday at 10p.m. replacing a critical hour of news coverage at a time when the world is facing dangerous wars in Europe and the Middle East and the United States is about to put a former president on trial and enter a presidential campaign with the potential to end Democracy in this country as we have known it. But never mind all that. What do Gayle and Charles think?

CNN says the show has a limited run that is scheduled to go at least through the first quarter of next year.

From Variety:

“‘King Charles’ is different than anything we have on CNN’s lineup,” says Amy Entelis, CNN’s executive vice president for talent and content development, in responses to questions provided by email. “It’s not a newscast, but rather a talk show centered around the news stories and cultural moments that Gayle and Charles are most interested in.” CNN declined to make executives or the new anchors available for a direct conversation.
