We haven’t seen this in recent memory; a CT newspaper unwilling to endorse in a political race because the choices are so weak. That’s the dilemma the Hartford Courant faced with the state representative race in the 5th district which includes parts of Hartford and Windsor. Neither Democratic incumbent Brandon McGee (an assistant majority leader) or GOP challenger Paul Panos impressed the editorial board. Even a little bit:
Mr. McGee’s lack of knowledge about important financial issues in the district and the state is a liability. Mr. Panos couldn’t be counted on to advocate for the needs of the district’s poor population or the city of Hartford.
