We thought we heard that right but went back to make sure.
CBS morning anchor Charlie Rose quoted a defense department official Friday morning as saying, “We are pretty Goddamn certain,” the U.S. has killed the British terrorist known as “Jihadi John.”
It’s unusual hear the word “Goddamn,” or its variants, in a newscast and rarer still to hear it on broadcast television. And perhaps even more surprising to hear it coming from Rose.
Having said all that, it’s hard to argue with the news value of using the quote.
