  1. HD is key. 61 goes HD this week. 8 better catch up soon, it will cost them.
As for quality of newscasts, 3 has been dominant for so long, and their anchors are solid and their promotions are top notch.

30 has a good staff, but news judgement is sometimes in question…

As for 8 – veteran staff, anchors, reporters, and their website, while rather “blah” in design, is updated better than anyone else.

61 has some good reporters – the experienced ones and not the children.

Let’s face it, in a few years, with the way the media business is going, there will only be two stations doing news anyway…

  2. Channel 8 comes in 2nd because no one except them cover Fairfield County. If something big comes up, the others will follow but day in and day out, Fairfield County is ignored. I grew up in Shelton, now live in New Haven County and it’s gotten worse instead of better.

Our household followed Darren Sweeney from 3 to 30 and now find 3 almost unwatchable. The HD is nice for my husband but we prefer the staff on 30. Bob Maxon is my speed in the morning. We still like Mike Hydeck, Denise D’Ascenzo and Bruce DePriest but prefer the lower key approach on 30. Besides, 30 has gotten the scoop on more than a few stories.
