Owen McNally, whose by-line was as familiar to Hartford Courant readers for four decades as the masthead itself, is dead at age 81.
McNally died Saturday.
He was a Connecticut native who started at the Courant as a general assignment reporter, but held several editorial positions at the paper throughout his long tenure. He was best known for his work as a jazz critic.
