The potential deal involving the Sinclair Broadcasting Group purchase of Tribune Media is drawing congressional opposition.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is weighing in with the FCC asking that any such merger be blocked. She says the deal would give Sinclair too much power, lead to higher prices for cable consumers and eliminate news competition in several markets.

Tribune Media owns Fox 61 and WCCT in Connecticut. If the deal goes through it could be the second major media merger affecting the Connecticut market in the last 12 months.
