-The Laurel has been following the sad closing of the The Vindicator, the daily newspaper in Youngstown, Ohio. Margaret Sullivan’s Monday media column in the Washington Post focuses on the city’s loss of its only newspaper. The title says it all: “Democracy…is about to die in Youngstown.”

-The Boston Globe has an interview with Norah O’Donnell, who starts anchoring the CBS Evening News on July 15th. O’Donnell has nice things to say about our Hartford alumna Gayle King.

-Victorious US women’s soccer team member Megan Rapinoe had made it clear that if invited to the White House, she will not accept. An alternative invitation has been proffered to Rapinoe and the entire team, which includes Stratford native Alyssa Naeher, by Speaker Nancy Pelosi:
