A report posted at Current.org says public radio stations across the country, that have teamed with Report for America to fund specialized staff positions, have seen an increase in fundraising power.
Report for America offers grants to non-profit news organizations to help pay salaries for reporters, usually assigned to cover under-covered communities. WNPR in Connecticut has partnered with RFA as has the Connecticut Mirror.
Stations have found it helps to find large funders, willing to donate half an annual salary, when RFA is there as a partner and when the position being funded is well defined.
