Veteran Connecticut broadcaster Sam Gingerella died over the weekend of cancer. He was 63.
Gingerella began his radio news career at WERI in Westerly, Rhode Island. He also served as the news director of WSUB in Groton back in the day when four radio stations in southeastern Connecticut had full news staffs and competed vigorously against each other. For 15 years he worked for WTIC-AM and hosted the weekly public affairs program Face Connecticut.
He lived with diabetes most of his life and though it created many challenges for him he never quit.
