Sherman London, a 40 year veteran of the Waterbury Republican-American newspapers, is dead at the age of 102. He died Thursday of heart failure.
London’s first journalism job, following service in the Army in World War II, was as a news reporter in Springfield, Massachusetts. He soon moved to what was then the Waterbury American where he worked until his retirement in 1988. His final assignment was as editor of the editorial pages.
London was also one of the longest serving members of the Connecticut Freedom of Information Commission(1996-2013). He lived in Southbury. His funeral is scheduled for Monday(May 6).
