Hartford Courant capitol reporter Daniela Altimari points out on social media that with the addition of several female reporters in recent months, the Connecticut capitol press room is now “near gender parity.”

With the recent retirement of Steve Kotchko as a full time reporter for the Connecticut Radio Network, Sue Haigh of the Associated Press (pictured) is now “the Dean” of the capitol press corps. We are quite certain this is the first time a woman has held that ceremonial title.

The capitol press room was close to gender parity in the past when several radio and television stations had desks at the capitol and they happened to be staffed by women.
