If you’re getting depressed over the general state of journalism you might feel better if you attend the Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists’ Excellence in Journalism Awards Dinner. It’s this Thursday night, May 21, at Fantasia in North Haven at 6 pm.
Along with the journalists who will receive awards is lawyer Daniel Klau, a partner with Pepe & Hazard, who has been an FOI champion. Included in his long resume is the fact that he represented a local newspaper reporter and quashed a subpoena requiring her to testify about her postverdict conversations with a juror. He regularly represents newspapers in defamation and invasion of privacy actions.
