Former ESPN host Dan Patrick is not sounding positive about a possible Sportscenter reunion with Keith Olbermann.
The 40 year anniversary of the program is coming up and that has sparked speculation about putting Olbermann and Patrick together again. But speaking to Sports Illustrated, Patrick, who now hosts a national radio program, says it would be hard to recreate what he and Olbermann had as a team when they hosted the show 20 years ago.
The big difference between today and 20 years ago, according to Patrick, is that back then he was “trying to get away with things” on the air. Now hosts are encouraged to push the edges.

In a related note, new reporting suggests our post earlier this week of up to 300 layoffs at the network later this year are well founded. The cuts would be part of an on-going cost cutting effort being driven by changes in cable television viewing habits.
