From Bruce DePrest via Twitter:
Hi everyone! On our 5pm show this evening, I announced that I am going to retire at the end of the year, on New Year’s Eve. It has been a long run, 43 years in one market, and the longest serving anchor in WFSB history! I still have 6+ weeks left, so I still have work to do!
Bruce joined Channel 3 in 1984 as weekend meteorologist. He was the junior guy for a quite a while, but was eventually rewarded with the title of Chief Meteorologist.
There was a time in the 90s when WFSB, under previous ownership, was ready to squeeze Bruce out. The union (AFTRA) stepped in and eventually his job was saved. It’s wonderful when a good guy prevails, isn’t it?
Congratulations, Bruce. You will be missed.
