When describing what they like best about journalism, reporters often say they love the idea that they have the opportunity to ask anyone anything they want. And when you report to work for your shift you never know who you might meet.

These thoughts must have been going through Evan Berland’s mind as he looked up from his desk at the Associated Press this week to see tennis legend Bille Jean King standing in front of him talking with his colleagues. He posted this picture on Facebook.

Berland, who covered the Connecticut Capitol back in the ’90’s, is currently weekend global news manager for the AP.
