…when you’re a police officer. Or a New Haven Assistant Police Chief, more specifically.
We’re very late bringing you this story, but New Haven Register police reporter William Kaempffer found himself the object of New Haven Assistant Police Chief Peter Reichard’s wrath. But things haven’t turned out too well for Reichard, who was relieved of duty a few weeks ago.
From the Register:
Last September, a police detective filed a workplace violence complaint against Reichard with the city human resources department. Reichard allegedly had taken issue with the detective’s work attire, including a pair of white shoes, and threatened, according to the complaint, to break the detective’s legs below the knees, or words to that effect, if he ever wore them again.
The New Haven Register reported on the complaint. That same month, Reichard sent an e-mail allegedly threatening to arrest Register police reporter William Kaempffer, who wrote the story, if Kaempffer ever contacted him again. He has not responded to requests for comment from the Register for months.
