The Hartford Business Journal is reporting that Hearst Connecticut Media Group has offered voluntary buyouts to a group of employees. The details of the buyout offer are not known. It is unclear how many buyouts were offered and how many have been accepted.

There is evidence the cost cutting move is company-wide and not limited to Connecticut. Hearst is the largest owner of newspapers in Connecticut having made its latest acquisitions last year with the purchase of the Journal Inquirer of Manchester and the Meriden Record-Journal.
