According to a report from Current.org, NPR is seeing a steady drop in listeners and it’s all tied to the age of the audience and how people are choosing to access audio story telling content.
Specifically, NPR is failing in efforts to replace older listeners with younger listeners at a sufficient rate. That doesn’t mean younger audiences are not taking advantage of other NPR products, like podcasts, but it does eventually spell trouble for the terrestrial radio network that built the NPR brand.
