As local news start-ups search for ways to survive, the trust of the American people in the news media writ large remains near record lows.
According to a new Gallup Poll, only 7% of Americans say the news media is trustworthy. That’s up two points from a similar poll taken in 2016. Still worse, 38% of those surveyed have no trust in the news media at all.
If the news media were an incumbent governor, they would be advised not to seek re-election to avoid a humiliating defeat.
