Hartford Business Journal published an article today that sheds some light on the recent round of buyouts at the Hartford Courant.

As The Laurel reported on January 14th, this round of buyouts is the second to hit the Hartford Courant within two years.

HBJ reported that four reporters and two editors have taken buyouts. Peter Marteka, Greg Hladky and town reporter Michael Walsh have publicly announced their departures from the paper over the past week.

According to a tweet sent out yesterday by the Chair of the Hartford Courant Guild and Courant reporter Rebecca Lurye, editors from CTNow and Hartford Magazine have left.

See those blank spaces? They’re the vanished stories, written by reporters who took buyouts last week. Our communities are watching coverage disappear — all because of @TribPub’s decision to slash newsroom positions year after year,” the Hartford Courant Guild tweeted yesterday.
