The long-time owner of several weekly newspapers in Connecticut, Vincent Hersam, died last week at the age of 92.

Hersam took over the ownership of the New Canaan Advertiser when his father died in 1966. The paper was founded by his grandfather in 1908. He eventually merged the company with Acorn Press and grew the chain to seven papers including:  The Darien Times, Wilton Bulletin, Milford Mirror, Ridgefield Press, Shelton Herald and Trumbull Times.

The chain was sold to Hearst Connecticut Media in 2018.
