A key legislative committee has voted in favor of a bill regulating the use of drones by Connecticut police departments. The legislation requires police agencies to register their drones with the state and to get a warrant before using a drone for surveillance in a criminal investigation.
As it stands today, the bill does not address the use of privately owned drones, which would include the news media, but that subject is sure to come up at some point, as it has across the country.
It is a story worth watching(from eye level). We like the Courant’s account mainly for the John Woike photo of Mark Davis, Joe Sferrazza and Mark Sims(CRN) covering the story.
