According to a press release from WFSB, the station dominated the Connecticut local news ratings during the month of February.
February was a bad month for winter weather but a great month for market leader WFSB Channel 3. Overall every one of the station’s newscasts won the top spot. The ratings dominance clearly started early, 4:30AM to be exact. In the station’s newest half hour of news, Channel 3 grew the time period 31% outperforming the combined ratings of its competitors WVIT and WTIC. Eyewitness News continued to grow its lead throughout the morning, peaking during the 6AM hour by growing the time period 10% and topping its closest competitor, WTNH by 2.5 rating points.
We welcome input from other stations on the ratings race. In the past the knock on WFSB has been that its numbers may be large but its audience is older and less desirable to advertisers.
I stopped watching WFSB because they don’t broadcast in HD. Their broadcast looks ugly on a 55 inch HD set. When I inquired about HD a year ago I was told “soon”. As compared to what?
I stopped watching WFSB due to their lack of HD. I felt like I was watching news on an old VCR recorder. There is no excuse for not having true HD. I still would not watch their show due to the low brow weatherman Haney. I am amazed that people continue to watch this station. It must be the old retirees that keep watching because their old television sets don’t even have HD, and they enjoy watching clowns.
WVIT is WAY better, the only reason why WFSB (channel 3) wins is because it is the news of all the senior citizens. WVIT is great, please make no changes and soon they will be in the top spot of CT news
