If you’re a nightside TV reporter or photographer you’re doing a live shot from the post office for the annual “tax filers who waited till the last minute” story. But if that’s not where you’ll be you can check out this panel discussion in Hamden. Quinnipiac’s chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists will present “Journalism’s Next Chapter” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, in the Mancheski Executive Seminar Room of the Lender School of Business Center.

The panel discussion is free and open to the public. Panelists will discuss the future of journalism, the decline of newspapers and how it will affect career options while new platforms are introduced.

The guest panelists include:

  • Melissa Bailey, managing editor of the New Haven Independent, an online newspaper
  • Bree Nordenson, writer for the Columbia Journalism Review
  • Joel Rawson, former executive editor of the Providence Journal
  • Brian Stelter, New York Times media technology reporter

For more information, contact Karin Schwanbeck, assistant professor of journalism and the adviser to Quinnipiac’s SPJ chapter, at 203-582-5391.
