The long-time executive director of the Old State House in Hartford, Wilson Faude, is dead at age 71.
He died Monday.
During the years of Faude’s reign at the Old State House the landmark was infused with his personality. He most notably reopened Steward’s museum of curiosities, instituted noontime cannon firings, dressed staff in period costume, and made the Old State House a popular spot for civic events.
He was also a behind the scenes leader in the Hartford community and state politics who often used quiet diplomacy to influence public debate.
We offer condolences to Bill’s family, the city of Hartford and the state of Connecticut.
