Back when AM radio was as important to communities as the local newspaper WINE-AM served Danbury, Connecticut as must listen radio.

Like many AM stations its importance to the community, audience size and influence have all diminished since the deregulation of the 1980s and the growth of the internet as a news source. Still, there are some who find value in these old stations.

WINE has recently been purchased and put back on the air by a Brazilian based church. It will offer religious programming aimed at the Portuguese speaking community.
