Follow up now on a story we told you about first, last week…
Multiple sources in the public radio community have confirmed for The Laurel that among those laid off in a cost cutting move by CT Public Media last week, are long-time on-air host Ray Hardman and senior editor Matthew Long-Middleton.
In addition, a number of freelance producers for WNPR’s talk shows have been dismissed and the twice a month locally produced food show Seasoned is being sunset(a phrase often used in the public media world to mean “canceled.”)
In all, the cuts amount to 4% of the CT Public workforce. Employees were also told, in an internal email, that “there will be no across-the-board salary increases for the next year…tuition and student loan reimbursement would not be offered and there will be limits on training, conferences, overtime and discretionary travel.”
